Motu Patlu – King of Kings released on 14th October 2016

October, 2016: Ketan Mehta, Deepa Sahi & Anish Mehta present India’s favorite awesome twosome, Motu Patlu who are all set to enthrall children with their maiden theatrical outing Motu Patlu – King of Kings. Maya Digital Studio’s latest 3D stereoscopic animated movie is based on the very popular Lotpot comic book characters Motu Patlu, currently featuring on Nickelodeon.  The film will give children a chance to have an adventurous experience in theatres this october.

Releasing on October 14, 2016 - the film will give children a chance to have a fun-filled holiday experience with their family and the beloved characters.

Best Friends Motu Patlu are the lovable awesome twosome residing in a small town in the heartland of India, known as Furfuri Nagariya. Entrapped in a plot with a runaway circus lion, a lion king trying to protect his kingdom and a greedy poacher who wants to ruin the jungle life – Motu Patlu must wage a battle to save the jungle.

Starting out by creating a pilot in Cosmos – Maya,  of Lotpot’s legendary comic book Motu Paltu, a very popular comic that 3 generations grew up reading, Anish piqued the interest of Nickelodeon enough for them to agree to air the series. After airing 500 Happy-sodes, as he likes to call them, Anish is ready with his production debut, Motu Patlu – King of Kings. Produced by Ketan Mehta, Deepa Sahi and Anish Mehta, the film is also the directorial debut of Suhas Kadav.

“What are you more likely to identify with? Hollywood’s flying superheros saving the universe one more time or Motu Patlu’s fight against evil, fueled by a nice diet of hot samosas? What if we give the audience the same quality of animation but with Indian flavour? Asks Anish.

“We have fast moving merchandise of Motu Paltu flying off the shelves, we are developing the Motu Patlu game, the Tv series is topping the TRPs since the series first aired, and we have the film coming out next week. If there was ever an example of a franchise, this is it. ” Anish goes on to explain.

Committed to creating more and more content for children’s content, Anish has no qualms about his ambitions. “We have 9 shows in production as we speak, and 5 of which are currently on air on various Tv channels. Vir the Robot boy, Kisna, Shiva, Eena Meena Deeka are topping the TRPs. By the end of Oct 2 new co-production deals will be signed by us at Cannes. We are proud of the Cosmos Maya team, most of the animators have hands on experience working on various Hollywood blockbusters. Animation is the future and we embraced it much before anyone else, thats what makes market leaders” says Anish with enthusiasm.

“Watch Motu Patlu – King of Kings in theatres and tell me what you like, what you don’t. The sequel is getting scripted currently and feedback will be good for us all” quips Anish as he prepares for his flight to Cannes as his first production opens in Indian theatres on 14th Oct 2016
