Viacom18 Motion Pictures & Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati recently went on floors .
The filmmaker managed to pull off a major casting coup and announced Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor as the star cast of his larger-than-life film.
While the film has been in the news ever since its announcement , major headlines were made when Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced Shahid Kapoor as the hero of the film opposite Deepika Padukone.
The star will essay the role of Deepika Padukone’s husband , Raja Ratan Singh , a just ruler and a warrior who gave his all to the battlefield , while Ranveer Singh has been cast as the anti-hero and Deepika’s nemesis in Padmavati.
Apart from sharing screenspace with Deepika , Shahid will also be working with Sanjay Bhansali for the very first time and couldn’t be more excited.
Shahid , who shot for his first day on the set recently , was overwhelmed with the warm response he received with the filmmaker and his crew , welcoming him into the Sanjay Leela Bhansali family.
While the makers are fiercely guarding the looks of the film’s principal actors , inside sources reveal that Shahid looked spectacular in a royal ,never-seen-before avatar.
Reveals a unit source, ” Special attention is being paid to Shahid Kapoor’s look and styling in the film. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known to look into the minutest of details and is excited to present Shahid Kapoor is a new, never-seen-before avatar.Shahid shot for his first day for Padmavati and filmed with Deepika Padukone . He was completely overwhelmed when the entire clapped and cheered for him after his first shot. Despite it being his first day, he completely felt like part of the Bhansali family”.
It is for the very first time that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is making an “anti-hero” film- telling the tale of the greatest Sultan of Hindustan – the sharp and ambitious Turk, Alauddin Khilji and the legendary Mewar Queen Padmavati,known for her beauty, intellect and the courage with which she fought her nemesis – the undefeated Alauddin.
