As I mentioned in my previous post about the usual food cravings that I have, one of the major ones is of south Indian food.. vadas.. medu vada being one of my favourites.
It is not easy though to satisfy the craving of this, as it requires certain preparations a day in advance, like soaking the pulses. I had to find out a more or less similar substitute to it that makes the recipe quick and at the same time keeping the taste intact.

Ingredients: bread slices, curd, cornflour, curd, refined flour, rawa, finely chopped ginger-garlic-onion-green chillies, salt, cumins and pepper powder.
Method: knead a smooth dough combining all the above ingredients. Make small balls and make a hole in the centre (like in vada). Deep fry the vada in hot oil until golden brown. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
This is an all time superhit sunday breakfast at my home. Do give it a try and share pictures.
