Irrfan Khan’s movies almost always have a strong message and so does Madaari. Family audiences will love it, as they can easily relate to the core themes that deal with love and happiness within a family as well as the pain and guilt one experiences when something goes wrong. Inspired by true events, the movie captures the angst and frustration experienced by an ordinary, middle-class family man when the system fails to resolve his problems. Madaari is a message to the powers that be that the tables could turn if the common man is pushed to a corner, leaving him no other option, but to fight back and claim justice.

The central plot of Madaari is quite dramatic, wherein a stoic, shadowy man, Nirmal Kumar (Irrfan Khan) kidnaps the son of the Home Minister (Tushar Dalvi). Now, the next step would probably be a ransom demand, but Madaari is different. What Nirmal demands is something that has never been done before; he demands that the authorities find his missing son and then only the Home Minister’s son would be released. It’s a unique way to extract justice from people who do not seem to care a bit about the problems being faced by the middle class. The term ‘madaari’ essentially means a person that makes the monkeys dance to his tunes, so that’s what Nirmal does to the authorities for their uncaring approach.

A movie on socio-political issues may get boring, but Madaari does not because it is in the safe hands of master performer, Irrfan Khan. He has delivered a remarkable performance, proving, yet again, that he keeps evolving as an actor with every new release. Some scenes are so realistically done in Madaari that they will make you feel the pain, guilt and anger of a person who is unable to find his son. Jimmy Sheirgill and Tushar Dalvi have been perfect in their respective roles. Credit also goes to the storyline, which has been tailored to take on the contours of a thriller, making the movie a must watch. Director Nishikant Kamat has aptly captured the emotions within a family without losing grip on the central theme that renders a high profile crime unfolding on the screen.

Go for #Madaari for an exciting, new story that will keep you and your family glued to your seats all throughout. And, of course, watch out for Irrfan delivering one of his best performances ever.
