What happens when India’s top cricketer is kidnapped? Well, this is the central plot of Dishoom, wherein the Indian government sends its best to find the missing star batsman Viraj (Saqib Saleem). For this critical mission, the authorities choose Kabir (John Abraham), a top-rated cop with a proven track record. Kabir is a burly man who has an attitude of his own, is ill-tempered and a chain smoker.

The kidnapping occurs in the Middle East, just before India and Pakistan are to clash in the finals. When Kabir reaches the Middle East, he meets Junaid (Varun Dhawan), a largely comic character with his own eccentricities and sharp mind, who agrees to assist Kabir in the mission. As the dynamic duo search for clues, they come across Ishika (Jacqueline Fernandez), who turns out to be a top thief. As new situations emerge, she joins the team and the mission to search for the kidnapped cricketer.
There are many things that make Dishoom a good entertainer. Firstly, there are plenty of twists and turns in the plot, which will keep you guessing till the end. The movie may not be an out and out thriller, but it will definitely keep your grey matter buzzing. Another thing is that Dishoom loads plenty of star power such as Akshay Kumar and Nargis Fakhri, who have done short, but interesting cameos. While Nargis looks gorgeous in a bikini, Akshay comes across in a snazzy, swag avatar, one that pouts and likes taking selfies with cricketers. Yet another surprise is Akshaye Khanna, who is back on the big screen after a long hiatus. The camaraderie between John and Varun is also worth watching, which is built around the good cop, bad cop routine, and comes with witty one-liners and silly goof-ups. Last but not least, there’s Parineeti Chopra as well, in a sizzling item number.
The movie is fast-paced and there’s plenty of star power to watch out for. Go for Dishoom for some great masala entertainment and plenty of action and fun.
